North Lake Charles Riverfront Parkway & Redevelopment Plan

In post-Rita southwest Louisiana, the challenges of recovery created opportunities for positive change. The plan focuses on redevelopment of the North Lake Charles Riverfront, an environmentally challenged section of the Calcasieu River north of I-10, as a catalyst for improvements to the adjacent neighborhoods and a complement to ongoing revitalization in downtown. The North Lake Charles Plan boldly proposes a multi-user “Green Parkway” that is the needed interface between the neighborhoods, riverfront, and surrounding wetlands.
