Perkins Road Community Park
Perkins Road Community Park redefines an existing community park, which has served as a venue for football and baseball, into an extreme sports park. The facility includes: a new 35,000 square foot skate park, rock climbing plaza, children’s playground, park office and restroom facility; a BMX track, a renovated fixed-gear bicycle velodrome, football stadium, 3 baseball fields and tennis courts. Additionally, the park has a new one acre fishing pond, sand volleyball courts and over a mile of walking paths. The design renovated and integrated the existing facilities into the new comprehensive action sports oriented park that is considered one of the finest of its kind in the southeast United States. This project received a Merit Award in 2010 from the Louisiana Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
