St. George Catholic Church

A collaborative effort between architects, landscape architect, and the Church Community, this master plan provides for the development of a new 1300-seat sanctuary, new parking and church gardens, as well as repurposing the existing sanctuary into a new early childhood development center. The church gardens create a transition from the parking through different meditative, active and gathering spaces for fellowship. The relationship, both physically and symbolically, between the interior and exterior spaces were carefully coordinated to maximize the transition and spiritual nature of this part of the campus. Maintaining and featuring the existing live oak trees on the site, the community circle establishes a space for outdoor worship, meditation, outdoor education and community gatherings. The multipurpose space is designed to work with the Church as well as the school, and defines the front green of the sanctuary.
