West Feliciana Parish Gateways & Corridors Master Plan
West Feliciana Parish Louisiana is a rural and beautiful area in the Tunica Hills region of the state. It is a parish that consists of many small communities and one town, St. Francisville. The area boasts one of the largest collections of Antebellum homes in the United States and is known for the beautiful scenic byways and rolling hills just a short drive from the state capital, Baton Rouge. In 2011 the St. Francisville Area Foundation retained JFDS to develop a parish-wide Gateways and Corridors Master Plan. The planning effort was largely to study potential gateways to the parish, but ultimately became a way-finding signage system for the entire parish.
This study extends the West Feliciana Parish Comprehensive Plan by developing recommended actions and implementation strategies for the Gateways and Corridors of St. Francisville and West Feliciana Parish. By building on the existing rural charm and rich cultural heritage of the parish, the Gateways and Corridors Master Plan Study is to be used as a mechanism for communicating points of entry into the area and as a guide for further exploration of “Louisiana’s Hill Country.”
